QTender Process 2023-2024

Upcoming procurement processes

The  Department of Justice and Attorney-General holds contracts with a state-wide network of funeral directors (known as Government contracted undertakers or GCU),  support the delivery of legislated services to our local communities across Queensland.

Under these contractual arrangements, known as a Standing Offer Arrangement (SOA), GCU provide the following services:

  • Conveyancing services of deceased persons for all reportable deaths that occur in Queensland as provided by the Coroners Act 2003;  and
  • Burial and cremation services approved under the CCQ Funeral Assistance Scheme in accordance with the Burials Assistance Act 1965.

Each Local Government Area (LGA) Boundary has a dedicated GCU. Further information on the LGA Boundaries can be found at this link for the Electoral Commission of Queensland, where you can also search by town name or other location.

Standing Offer Arrangement contracts

The current contracts expire on 31 January 2024. The Department has commenced a procurement process to establish new Standing Offer Arrangement (SOA) contracts in each LGA Boundary from 1 February 2024.

Tenders will be released in stages over the coming months. The first stage for the Central and Western Queensland LGAs has now closed, and the second stage was released on 28 August 2023 for South East and Coastal LGAs, plus the Mount Isa and Cloncurry LGAs. All remaining LGAs will be included in the last stage.

All current GCU and eligible funeral directors are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to provide conveyancing services and burial and cremation services to their local community.
